center for imaging science [ short promotional video ]
This piece highlighted a student in the Center for Imaging Science at RIT. The lab she worked in focused on using imaging devices on satellites.
This meant I got to do space. Excellent.
I did the modelling and texturing in Blender, referencing some still renders from NASA for the satellite.
I rendered the final images in Octane. Octane was still in beta at the time, so it did not have a proper way to export an alpha channel. I had to render the sequence twice, the alpha channel was created by applying a pure white emission material to the model with no environment map.
